Did you know that there is a lot more to do in Park City and Park City Resort than just skiing ? Looking for a some great fun summer activities the whole family can enjoy or just want to have a great time? Try Park City in the summer just for the day or make a weekend of it. There are amazing restaurants of every type, outlet stores, lots of outdoor activities, great hotels and places to stay, beautiful spas or you can just relax in the pool.
For our wedding anniversary we decided to drive up to Park City for the day on a gorgeous August morning-since we have a son in a wheelchair, it makes going away for any amount of time a little difficult to plan. I think he would have liked the Alpine Coaster, tho! I would love to take him to Park City for a weekend since he isn’t able to get out much. Although I am and always will be an island girl at heart-I will say that Utah has amazing mountains!
We decided to try the Zip Rider first since the line was the shortest and I just wanted to get it over with. I am deathly afraid of heights so I really thought I was going to throw up just looking over the edge-so I screamed all the way down and I
think (ok I know) there may have been a few choice words involved also. Once you got past the steep vertical drop, the rest of the zip line wasn’t so bad. Hey, I did it so now I can say I tried it.
Next we decided to try the Alpine Coaster. While I don’t enjoy heights, I do like to go fast!
Here is the description from the website:
“Thrill seekers, meet your match on Utah’s largest Alpine Coaster. The elevated track winds you through more than a mile of loops, curves and hair-pin curves at speeds up to 30 mph. Just like your favorite roller coaster – but with the refreshing mountain scenery of Park City.”
Loved this ride-we actually went on it about 5 times! You control how fast you go but it was more fun to go fast and they even have signs saying it is safer the faster you go.
We also tried the Alpine Slide, which I had done as a kid but hadn’t been back for years-it was fun but I had a hard time keeping the brake up since my knee is still weak from ACL replacement surgery earlier this year. There were also quite a few people mountain biking and they all said the trails were amazing.
Later in the day a summer storm was blowing in so they had to close the rides due to lightning sightings within 10 miles but after that passed we decided to do the Scenic Lift ride as the last of the day. It was odd to be on a chair lift with no snow and being a former skier, it just seemed wrong to go back down the lift. It was a great ride actually and we even saw a few deer. There are many more fun summer activities in Park City and I look forward to next year. Can’t wait until next time we go back!!
