Wow-such a long time since I blogged about anything-I really struggled to find anything to write about after my dog had to be put to sleep this past summer. Lots of great things to write about but I lost my creative mojo somewhere along the way.
Attended a great family reunion with my brothers( brother in laws) and sisters (sister in laws), many, many assorted children and my mom. This was the view we had every day. Since all my brothers and sister in laws all live in Hawaii (and my other sister and brother in law live in Washington state) so it is really rare I that get to spend time with all of them at once. Grateful for our own rooms and bathrooms! Tons and tons of food-I think everyone bought cases of Gogurt and blueberries at Costco! Any guesses how many gallons of milk we bought?
A new little buddy for me, a parti color Yorkie, named Duncan who I am trying to train as a therapy dog since he loves all people and other animals-busy, busy, busy with lot of training and socializing. Home Depot and craft stores are great places to socialize your dog.
My husband will finish his degree in January (I am very proud of him for doing this) but that opens a lot of what ifs for the future.
Since I left the life of a professional crafter (scrapbook/papercrafting) I really struggled to find anything (creative) to do with my extra time. Trying a lot of different things is exhausting! I love to create and I miss creating new and over the top projects.
New things I tried:
Floral design-love working with flowers
Watercolors-got the leaves down real well but the flowers still look like blobs to me (the joy of being a perfectionist)
Hand lettering-love it (but again the need to have it look perfect)
Chalkboards-love, love doing these and am trying to embrace the imperfection-this is one of my favorites
Dog training-I wanted to be a veterinarian but have learned so much from the trainers, seems like many times it is the owners not the dogs who need the most training.
Freelance graphic design work- this has always been a passion of mine and I enjoy it
and the list goes on.
What will I create next? I am really focusing my energy on custom chalkboards and my graphic design. But I still love to create with paper. Well onto the next creative project!
